Karen Kay Martin, 72, passed away in her sleep on December 22, 2019 in Houston, TX. Ms. Martin, a Dallas native, was raised in the Green Hills neighborhood of Nashville. After graduating from Hillsboro High School and receiving a BSN from Vanderbilt University and a MHA from Texas Woman’s University, she went on to have an extensive career in the medical industry before retiring as a Senior Investigator for the Texas Medical Board. Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Charles William Martin, Sr. and Melba Faye Andrews Martin; sisters, Virginia Martin and Maxine Wilson Ledgerwood; and niece, Constance Ledgerwood White. Surviving family includes her brother and sister-in-law, Charles William Martin, Jr. and Candace Ann Cleveland Martin of Memphis; aunts Winnie Andrews O’Brien and Jean Andrews LaFleur of Louisiana; nephews Charles William Martin, III and Christopher Wallace Martin of Memphis; nieces Catherine Ledgerwood High and Cynthia Ledgerwood Denton of Franklin; great-nephews Ricky White, Arlen High, and Jordan Denton; great-nieces Kelli White, Ashton High, and Nikki Denton; great-great-nephews Seth Thornton, Braydon White, Noah White, and Kason White; great-great nieces Alli Holly, Hope Thornton, and Lenny White; as well as numerous cousins.
