Comment:
My husband Rick and I are currently teaching together in our city elementary school system. Always drawn to little children, I love my kindergarten class! I especially enjoy writing arts-based teaching materials which make hard-to-learn concepts easy and fun. Over the past 30 years--outside of school--we have also developed a ministry to infants and young children called Wisdom for Little Lambs. I have discovered this is my niche and great passion and joy--writing songs and simple books, and using sign language and visual materials to bring abstract spiritual concepts into the realm of the youngest child's senses. Hobbies: Speed walking/slow jogging--training for occasional 5k or 10k events in Atlanta; spending time with family and friends. |

Comment: Hello HHS classmates! I am so sorry to miss out on the 50th reunion but I can’t make it this year. After high school, my family moved to Atlanta and I graduated from Georgia State with a BA in English and a minor in French. I married out of college and after a year in Viet Nam, my husband was assigned to Hanau, Germany where we lived for 4 years and traveled through Europe while I worked teaching GI’s who had not completed high school before being drafted. While in Germany, I completed my MS in Counseling through the University of Southern California extension. We returned to the states to Durham, NC where my husband finished college on the GI bill at Duke University and I began working in Human Resources. My husband and I divorced after 10 years of marriage and 4 children. I worked at Duke for more than 30 years – first in Human Resources then in the Department of Medicine as their HR Director. In 1995 after 16 years of being single, I married John Brinkhous who was the Director of Compensation at Duke. We have become a happy blended family with 7 grandchildren ranging in age from 22 to 9 whom we love dearly. We live on the coast of North Carolina about 20 miles north of Wilmington on a beautiful deep-water creek off the Intercostal waterway but we also have a house in Chapel Hill where all our children still live. I still play the piano and guitar and love writing about family and cooking. Life is good. | |

Comment:
I returned to Nashville in 2001 after spending fifteen years living in Chicago, IL and traveling throughout the United States and Europe. My twenty years of successful corporate management experience in sales, marketing, and new business development were based on one philosophy: “Make people come first, and you will achieve both success and enduring relationships.” |
